Introduction to Handbuilding & Pottery Wheel (4 weeks; Wednesdays)
If you're not sure whether to try clay handbuilding or the pottery wheel, this course lets you try both.
You'll get to start off with learning clay handbuilding techniques, including pinch pots, coil building and working with slabs and moulds. You can also try pottery wheel throwing and trimming.
Enjoy making your own clay projects at our local ceramic studio based in Drummoyne, Sydney. This course is taught by an experienced ceramics teacher, who will guide you through the art of making handmade ceramics.
Classes are perfect for beginners with only a maximum of 6 participants per class to ensure you receive lots of attention. Bring a friend or come as a family group. Open to anyone 12+ years of age. You will receive 6kg of clay to start with and can purchase more if needed at $25 a bag. Additional fees apply if you'd like your own tool starter kit.
If you already know you want to only handbuild or only do the pottery wheel,
we can cater for you too.
Over the 4 classes, you'll acquire skills in decoration and carving. You'll be able to make a range of pieces, have them bisque fired, ready for you to glaze in the final week, before the final glaze firing.
Your pieces will be ready to pick up a few weeks later.
There will be a total of 4 classes to attend over five weeks. Each session is 2 hours and you must be available for the times and dates offered.
Your ceramics instructor will be Leila Khazma.
