If you've ever wanted to try making some pottery on the wheel, this is the time with our 2.5-hour beginner pottery wheel-throwing taster workshop. No experience is required and all materials are included.

You'll learn to use the pottery wheel, including clay preparation, centring clay on the wheel and shaping your pot. Your instructor is very experienced and will demonstrate how to throw some simple shapes.

This class is for anyone 12 years or older and there will only be 5 students per class, so you'll get the attention you need. You can even book as a family. Each person attending (child or adult) will need to pay the class fee.

Students need to bring an old shirt, an apron, large plastic bags and wear closed-in shoes. We recommend relaxed fit pants/trousers for wheel throwing. Good idea to also tie back long hair, remove rings, watches and scarves.

Your tutor will be David Collins - a highly-skilled Australian potter, who produces finely crafted stoneware functional wares and ceramics. David Collins’ pottery has strong traditional Japanese influences and an earthy organic aesthetic. His teaching experience is invaluable. Pictured are some student's work from David's classes, as well as some of his work.

At the end of the workshop, you can pick your best piece and we'll finish it, bisque fire it and glaze it for pick up in a few weeks.

Be prepared to get addicted!

Or, you can sign up for our 4-week wheel-throwing class, starting 15 July. You'll then learn to trim and turn the pots you made and make more pieces ready for firing and glazing, so you can pick up later.
