Beginner Pottery Wheel Course (4 or 8 weeks)
EOFY OFFER - FREE GLAZE GALLERIA APRON FOR BOOKINGS BEFORE 30 JUNE 2026
If you've ever wanted to learn pottery on the wheel, this is your chance with our 4 or 8-week beginners' pottery wheel course
Join us for 2 hours each week, on the same day and time, over 4 consecutive weeks (or 8 weeks, if you book 2 consecutive courses) in our ceramic studio nestled in Sydney Inner West's Drummoyne. We offer both morning and evening sessions, and no experience is needed, though those with a little experience are welcome too.
What you'll do
Demonstration Your tutor will demonstrate how to throw simple shapes on the pottery wheel, including clay preparation, centring clay on the wheel, shaping your pot, trimming and glazing.
Get hands-on and relax Settle in and get hands-on at the wheel each week. There's something genuinely meditative about working with clay and it's the perfect way to unwind, whether you're starting your day or ending it.
Help at hand With a maximum of 6 students per course, you'll get plenty of one-on-one guidance from your tutor so you can develop your skills with confidence and at your own pace.
The results Your 4 weeks are structured to take you through the full process. You'll spend the first 2 weeks throwing on the wheel, the third week trimming and turning your best pots and the final week glazing them yourself, ready for firing. You'll be able to fire your best 6 pieces, with additional pieces available for $10 each.
You take your pottery through every step
This course is hands-on from start to finish. You'll throw, trim and glaze your own pieces yourself, with guidance from your tutor along the way. The only step we take care of is loading your pieces into the kiln for firing. Your finished, food-safe ceramics, microwave, dishwasher and oven safe, will be ready to collect once firing is complete.
