Throw & Trim Pottery Wheel Course (2 weeks)
Discover the therapeutic joys of the pottery wheel in our mini 2-week Course.
If you’ve been thinking about pottery wheel classes the try our 2-week Throw & Trim Course to get a feel for spinning clay, in our ceramic studio nestled in Sydney Inner West's Drummoyne. Unwind as you learn the art of turning stoneware clay into exquisite bowls, cups or a plant pots, using a pottery wheel. We have a maximum of 8 students in each class so you'll get personalised guidance and attention throughout.
No prior experience necessary: beginners are warmly welcome. Everyone makes something. We supply stoneware clay, tools and an experienced ceramics instructor so you can craft your creations on the wheel.
In the first week you’ll throw as many pots as you can in 2.5 hours to really develop your skills. Then in the second week, your pots will be leather-hard so you can learn to trim the bases. Choose your best 4 pots and we’ll fire them (twice) glaze them in your choice of colours. They’ll be ready to pick up in 2 to 3 weeks. Additional pieces can be finished for a nominal fee of $10 each.
You'll end up with functional food-safe, microwave/dishwasher/oven-usable ceramics.
You just need to:
Prepare for a fun experience. You might just find yourself captivated and eager to then enrol in our 4-week courses to keep developing your skills.
At our studio, sustainability reigns supreme. We reclaim and reuse all unfired clay and we recycle the majority of our water too.
