2-week Clay Handbuilding & Sgraffito Course with Tanya Bechara
We’re very excited to be able to offer a new Sgraffito Course!
In our 2-week Handbuilding & Sgraffito Course, students will learn the fundamental skills of handbuiling with clay, while also developing your own artistic style in a fun and encouraging environment. Students will make 2 pieces of pottery and then create your own design (or be inspired by images provided). We will then sgraffito (carve through underglaze) onto the surface of your creations. Caring guidance and technical support will be provided throughout the whole process.
With a maximum of 8 students per session, you’ll get the attention you need. All Clay, glazes and tools are supplied. Participants can have up to 2 pieces decorated, fired and clear glazed in 2 hour classes over 2 weeks. If you want to make more, then we can do that for $15 per piece.
Students need to bring a cloth apron and wear closed-in shoes.
Your instructor will be Tanya Bechara, who has been a potter and ceramics artist since 1999 and has been teaching adults since 2005 and children since 2009. Tanya has won several awards for her ceramic art and her work is collected both nationally and internationally.
Please note: Images do include wheel thrown pieces, which can’t be made in the course. They are examples of what surface decoration can be achieved.
